A few ideas that come to mind are:
1. A achievement for getting 100+ on each stage where points are required.
2. Getting maximum points on the same apparatus throughout the game (e.g. getting max on all airplane parts).
3. Achievement for finishing a stage with 0 points.
4. Achievement when the instructor gets annoyed
5. Achievements when a certain number of rings are past through, (more then 1 that could increase, i.e. 10, 20, 30 etc.)
6. Height achievements, Going to a certain height in the plane, jet pack or waiting for a certain height before releasing the parachute.
7. Total stage points 1 short of passing.

Great ideas, Pilotwings was awesome!

Added a memory address to the Wiki for counters.

I've added 4 achievements:

The main problem is that I haven't been been able to find the addresses dealing with the score, so I have no idea how to award even the obvious achievements -- I don't want to award a Stage 1 achievement to someone who gets to Stage 2 using a password.

oh nice! i wasn't expecting to see this here anytime soon, thanks!

The score was one of the things I had trouble finding first time around as well, that and I didn't understand Delta values which didn't help with a cheevo I was trying to make. Since then I had put it to one side and forgot about it.

hmm.. how'd you manage to get sputtering ascent? i can't seem to figure out how to go past around 1000 ft, it just simply refuses to let me go any further without dropping me no matter what i do

My ROM checksum starts with 35c3, and runs at 60fps.

Assuming you're running the same version as me, I know it starts sputtering around 700, so you'll need to rely on momentum to carry you up. If you're only getting to 1000, then you need to get more momentum.

I'd like to add a leaderboard for rocketbelt height; I read Scott's post about adding a new leaderboard, but I don't see where I would do that.

I figured it out! The values are stored by-digit in hex -- for instance in Lesson 1 the minimum score is 120, but that score is stored as 0x120, or 288.

Edit: Talking it over with a co-worker, they reminded me that BCD exists. After he mentioned it, I remembered working with it in one of my two electrical engineering courses, but it hadn't come up since then, so I forgot.

The rocketbelt leaderboard is now up!

It activates once you hit 1000 feet, and keeps track of your peak height. You need to go below 1000 feet to reactivate it, but that shouldn't be a problem cause the equilibrium point seems to be about 890 or so. Anywhere above that, and the rockets can't sustain your height.
